Spinach Bredie Recipe


2 large onions, sliced into rings.
500g mince.
salt and pepper to taste.
3 potatoes, peeled and cut into pieces.
2 cups spinach (well rinsed and stems removed), shredded.
50ml margarine or butter.
50ml cake flour.
400ml milk.
250ml grated cheddar cheese.


Sauté the onion in a little oil in a pan until soft.
Add the mince and fry until done.
Season with salt and pepper.
In a pot boil the potatoes in salted water until soft and done.
Drain the potatoes and add to the mince.
Steam the spinach for a few minutes until soft.
Mix with the mince mixture and turn into an ovenproof dish.
Make a cheese sauce in a saucepan using the margarine, cake flour, milk and grated cheese.
Spoon over the mixture and place in a heated oven for a few minutes until the dish is heated through.
Serve with rice and a salad.
