Cinnamon Dumplings Recipe

INGREDIENTS

250ml flour.
10ml baking powder.
2.5ml salt.
50ml margarine or butter.
1 egg.
100ml milk.
500ml boiling water.
25ml margarine or butter.
cinnamon sugar (1 part cinnamon to 2 parts sugar).
10ml brandy (optional).

STEPS

In a bowl sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Rub in 50ml margarine or butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
In a jug beat together the egg and milk.
Stir into the flour mixture.
Mix to form a soft dough.
Add extra milk if necessary.
In a saucepan on the stove bring the water and 25ml margarine to the boil.
Place spoonfuls of the dough into the boiling water.
Cover with a lid.
Allow to boil for 15 minutes (DO NOT REMOVE THE LID WHILE COOKING).
Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and place in a serving dish.
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Once all the dumplings have been made take the left over water that the dumplings were cooked in and add cinnamon sugar and brandy.
Make sure the water is boiling.
Remove from heat and pour over the dumplings.
(More water can be added if necessary).
