Apple Pie Recipe
INGREDIENTS PIE
250ml self-raising flour.
2ml salt.
125ml castor sugar.
125g butter OR margarine.
1 can (385g) sliced pie apples.
1 extra large egg.
125ml milk.
15ml sugar.
3ml ground cinnamon.
INGREDIENTS SYRUP
60ml sugar.
45ml milk.
5ml vanilla OR caramel essence.
METHOD PIE
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Grease a 23cm pie dish.
In a bowl cream the butter and castor sugar together.
Add the egg.
Beat until light and fluffy.
In a separate bowl sift together the flour and salt.
Fold the flour mixture into the butter mixture alternately with the milk.
Turn out into the prepared pie dish.
Arrange the apple slices on top.
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the apples.
Bake for about 40 minutes.
METHOD SYRUP
In a saucepan on the stove heat the sugar and milk.
Bring to the boil and boil until the sugar has melted.
Remove from the heat.
Add the vanilla OR caramel essence.
Stir.
Pour over the apple pie when removed from oven.
Serve hot with custard.
