Chicken Livers and Sweet ‘n Sour Sauce Recipe


1 onion, sliced.
oil for frying.
500g chicken livers, cleaned.
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.


100ml white grape vinegar.
100ml sugar.
15ml soy sauce.
7ml maizena, blended with a little cold water.


In a pan on the stove sauté the onion in a little oil until soft.
Season the chicken livers with salt and pepper.
Add to the onion and fry until brown on the outside but still slightly pink on the inside.
Mix together the grape vinegar and sugar.
Add to the chicken livers.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
Mix the soy sauce with the maizena.
Add to the chicken livers.
Heat until the sauce comes to the boil and thickens.
Stirring frequently.
Serve with rice or mashed potato.
