Bobotie Recipe

INGREDIENTS

2 Onions.
Oil or butter.
1 Kg Minced meat.
1 Slice bread.
Half teaspoon turmeric.
2 Tablespoons vinegar.
3 Tablespoons chutney.
1 cup milk.
2 Eggs.
1 Tablespoon Curry.
2 teaspoons salt.
Half teaspoon pepper.
Half cup seedless raisins.
4 Bay Leaves.

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
2. Slice onions thinley. Fry lightly in hot oil. Add mince and fry with the onions until slightly cooked and crumbly.
3. Soak bread in milk and squeeze out the milk. Mash the bread
4. Mix all the ingredients except 125 ml milk and 1 egg
5. Spoon the mixture into a greased oven dish
6. Bake for 1 hour
7. Beat the remaining egg with 125ml milk and pour over the meat 30 minutes before the end of cooking time
8. Serve with rice and chutney
