375 ml flour.
15ml baking powder.
1 egg, beaten.
Sift the flour, salt, baking powder and sugar together.
Cut in and rub in the margarine until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the milk gradually, stirring with a round bladed knife.
Knead gently and press out onto a lightly floured surface with your fingers to about 1cm thick.
Cut scones out with a scone cutter.
Place on a greased baking tray and brush with beaten egg.
Bake at 200°C for 15-20 minutes.
