Fix corrupted system files with DISM & SFC Scan

If your system performance is not running like it should or you have Windows updates and service packs that fail to install you possibly have corrupted system files.

SFC (System File Check) is a built in Windows utility that checks and fixes corrupted system files. If corrupted files could not be repaired with SFC then run DISM.
Open CMD (Command Prompt) as administrator and run the following command.
sfc /scannow

When using DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) make sure you are connected to the internet because files that are needed to fix the corruptions will download from Windows Update.

Open CMD (Command Prompt) as administrator and run the following command.
dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

A log file at the following location will store all the problems and fixes.
%windir%/Logs/CBS/CBS.log (Type this in Run or address bar in your Windows Explorer window.)

I have found most of the time when disk usage is running at 100% and your system is extremely slow SFC and DISM has resolved the problem. Always remember to do virus / malware scans, full system cleanup and check log files to find what caused the corruptions.
